A team from Whole Foods Market came out to the Boise WaterShed September 23rd to donate service hours. Twenty volunteers cleared false indigo, an invasive plant, from our outdoor classroom at the Boise River. They worked hard and cleared an amazing area of land!
An invasive species is one that is non-native to our ecosystem and is capable of causing harm. They grow and reproduce rapidly, have no natural pests in our area, and compete aggressively for resources. They create a situation where native species are replaced, wildlife habitat is diminished and alter ecosystem processes.
Thanks Whole Foods for stopping false indigo in its track!
